The Vogue 9075 jumpsuit

(A Like Sew Amazing blog squad post)

Now the Vogue 9075 is a pattern I’ve had in my stash for a while. I’ve made the dress version of it before, as well the culottes by themselves but I felt it was high time for me to make the full jumpsuit!

(It’s funny cause I initially bought the pattern to make the jumpsuit version but I just never got round to doing it!)

The pattern features a bodice with princess seams, optional sleeves and really wide legged pleated culottes which come together in a most fabulous jumpsuit. It also has pockets!

I picked out a lovely soft blue cotton chambray with tiny white polka dots from Like Sew Amazing. Sarah’s new online store has lots of fabrics, patterns and other haberdashery items to cover all your sewing needs. I’m so proud of her for finally living her fabric shop dreams!

This pattern is a lovely straightforward sew. I love that the bodice comes prepped for a petite adjustment (it’s marked for where to reduce length if you need to) which is perfect for my short upper torso.

I opted not to line the bodice as instructed (mostly because I didn’t have enough fabric 🤣) and chose to finish the neck with a bias binding.

I lowered the back neck to create a little V dipped neckline. This made a nice style choice to expose a bit of skin in an otherwise very covered up design. It also had the added benefit of making it easier to me to reach the zip… (An important thing when you live by yourself and there’s no one around to help zip you up!!).

The fabric worked out perfectly for this make – soft enough to drape but enough body to really appreciate the fullness of the legs.

I kept the length a bit of the long side to see how I like the midi length on me. I can’t say I’m completely won over yet but I’ll try it for a while.

It’s come up ever so slightly wide on my shoulders – something I hadn’t noticed when I’d make the dress version. It’s something to alter for next time!

I feel weirdly elegant when I wear this. It feels very proper, like I should be going to watch a polo match or going out for high tea!

  1. Me again! (I just commented on your gorgeous pink culottes from this pattern) . I think this is so elegant on you, and because of your funky hair/overall style it doesn’t look too woman-y if you know what I mean.
And that back! How clever! Absolutely love that!
