Feeling glam in the Amy Jumpsuit by Closet Case

Ah, that feeling when your latest make coincides with the sunniest of weekends!

This week I got started on the Amy jumpsuit from Closet Case Patterns. This pattern is a PDF only release from late last summer. It features a long wide legged trousers, a gentle V neck and wide straps with an optional waist tie.

It’s an easy breezy style that is all about comfort and elegance rolled into one!

Depending on your fabric choice it could be super flowy and dress like or could show off a structured exaggerated trouser leg in something more crisp.

I opted for the former and chose a printed viscose from Myfabrics for this project!

This was my first order from Myfabrics and I wasn’t disappointed! (This is not an ad by the way, I was just quite impressed 😂). I ended up ordering quite a few pieces from them – their linen and linen mixes are good value for money – so now I’ve got a queue of projects lined up!

This is reasonably quick project and I managed to make it in half a day.

I made a size 12 with no adjustments whatsoever and it fitted well! The leg was a bit long and I’ve kept it as a full length leg instead of the cropped, above ankle length it’s meant to be.

It’s finished with a little invisible zip on the left side under the arm and a lining of the bodice – which was definitely helpful for me as the fabric I used was very slightly see through.

It’s quite a fabric hungry pattern – 3 metres of a 140cm wide fabric – and that’s mostly due to the super wide legs. It’s totally worth it though as I love that swishy effect!

I managed to get it finished just in time for the mini heatwave that’s hit the U.K.! Technically this project should have seasonally inappropriate. It’s been 15deg and rainy for the past couple of weeks but I fell in love with the idea of making it and it skipped to the top of my sewing pile!

I’m so lucky I’ve been able to wear it out already instead of having it languish in the back of my wardrobe until summer!

  1. Looks lovely on you Great fabric.
I’m guessing this is braless. Don’t do that at my age! Otherwise I would be so tempted to make

    1. Actually I am wearing a bra! They purposely designed it so the jumpsuit straps are wide enough to cover a bra strap! (I can’t really go braless either 🤣🤣)

  2. Wow! I really like that, and your choice of fabric is amazing! I’ve been wondering if I should order from Myfabrics and you have sold me now, lol! Enjoy the heat and happy Easter x
