The Jessa shorts // Tilly and the Buttons

The latest Tilly and the Buttons patterns dropped last week so I can finally show you guys the tester version of Jessa that I made!

This latest pattern release includes two patterns: Romy – a jersey top with a envelope neckline and back tie and Jessa – a 70s style high waisted flared trouser and short.

I opted to test the shorts version of the Jessa pants (flares really aren’t for me and my thighs 🤣!).

The pattern comes together as beautifully as you’d expect from a Tilly pattern. It uses the same zip construction at the Ness skirt so it all felt really familiar sewing it up! I love the little details like the faux pocket flap and the angled button tab. The back pockets also have angled corners which look so beautiful sewn on.

I made this test version out of some navy blue jumbo corduroy that I bought in Walthamstow market. I felt the cord really spoke to that 70s vibe!

This originally had cuffs on the hem but the pattern started out life far too long so I ended up chopping them off and just hemming it. (Don’t worry it’s been adjusted to be shorter like this in the final version!)

I miss having pockets on the front to be honest, though I think they’ve got an add on pocket piece since the test version was sent out. I may need to add those on at some point!
