DIY dressmaking + crafts with Emily

The Simplicity 8454 blouse AKA more ruffle-y goodness!

Today I’m bringing you my favourite Minerva Crafts make to date – and the most ruffle-y blouse I’ve ever made, which is saying something because I’ve made some properly frilly things in the past.

The pattern I chose for this make was the Simplicity 8454 blouse. It’s one of Simplicity’s newest patterns releases. I’ve seen a couple of beautiful ones on Instagram recently and I knew this would be an absolute winner for me too!

I used the Atelier Brunette Terrazzo cotton gauze in Shell for this make. It’s light and floaty which is perfect for these kind of ruffles.

The blouse comes with 4 different views which have different sleeve variations and varying amounts of ruffles. Really though, you could continually mix and match the pieces to create more than the 4 views shown as they all fit together onto the same bodice pieces.

I chose to make View A – which was the reason I fell in love with this pattern in the first place. View A is the one with long sleeves and ruffles everywhere. Just everywhere. It’s amazing!

  1. I have this pattern too! I haven’t made it up yet because I’m onto short sleeves (getting ready for summer!) but seeing the pic now on the pattern I remember it comes with short sleeve versions too so I should get it out and try one of those 🙂 Yours is so pretty! It suits you Emily 🙂
