Me-Made-May Pledge ’17

It’s that time of year again already!

Started by Zoe over at the So Zo, What Do You Know blog, Me-Made-May is all about giving yourself a challenge to incorporate your handmade items into your day to day wardrobe. For lots of people that’s wearing at least one me-made item every day of the month but others like to personalise a bit more. It’s totally up to you what you want to do!

My pledge this year:

‘I, Emily of Self Assembly Required (@selfassemblyrequired), sign up as a participant of Me-Made-May ’17. I endeavour to wear at least one me-made item each weekday and only me-made items at the weekend (excluding underwear, outerwear and footwear) for the duration of May 2017′

Repeat outfits are totally ok with me though!

My goal is to wear more ensemble outfits. I definitely want to have more handmade pieces that I can mix and match with each other rather than the tendency I have for making a garment that can only be worn in one specific way…

I’m looking to improve the versatility of my wardrobe and also it’s wearability to make it more functional than what it is now.

Compared to last year, I’m in a MUCH better position. I already reach for more me-made items than ever when I get dressed so I’m heading in the right direction. This is the test really to see how far I’ve come!

  1. I’m at the same place and so happy about it after a return to sewing in Jan 2015 (following a 40 yr hiatus!) I can reach in my closet and wear at least one thing I’ve made every day and I do! 🙂

  2. My last bought RTW piece is about five years old. I started sewing my own clothes three years. I entered the MMM-challenge last year. And although not everything in my wardrobe is handmade I managed to wear a complete 100% handmade combination every day. I did repeats last year but that’s what I usually do: combinations. Carefully planning when I buy fabrics and patterns what I want to make and how I want toe what it. I’ve seen already some of your outfits on IG. Looking forwards to the rest.
