I decided to sign up for the Sew Your Dream Jeans workshop from Closet Case not long after I made my first pair of Morgan jeans.
After the buzz of making my first pair of jeans wore off a bit, I realised I still had A LOT to learn when it came to my denim sewing skills and perfecting the fit of my jeans. So when Heather Lou released this workshop I felt it would be a worthwhile investment if it meant I could really make a great pair of jean.
And it was totally worth it.
The workshop is split into lots of short video classes, each going through a different topic – from buying denim, to sizing and fit and of course each step in the construction process. They’re all about 20-30 minutes long and they come with a written section of tips too. You can ask Heather Lou questions directly on each class page via a comments section.
Both stretch denim and woven denim jeans are covered and these are tips that’ll apply to all jeans even if you’re not using a Closet Case pattern. The course comes with the mid rise Ginger jeans pattern included and a discount code if you wanted to get the high rise Gingers or the Morgan jeans instead.
Heather Lou comes across as charming and down to earth. And she has amazing in depth knowledge about making jeans – she’s definitely the right person to take lessons from! She makes everything seem so straightforward that even the fly construction seemed simple!
If you’ve ever been scared about making jeans I’d definitely recommend taking this online course. It will change everything!
I’ve just finished off my first pair of Ginger jeans and OMG my butt has never looked so good. I’ll be blogging about it on here soon!

Glad you thought it useful! I bought both this course and the fabric pack that was sold when the Morgan jeans launched. I have a pair cut out, but keep getting ‘distracted’ by simpler makes π
It’s quicker than you think to make them. Really! If it’s all cut out already it won’t be more than half a day! That being said, I also had my Gingers cut out and waiting for me for about 2 weeks before I started sewing them…
I just finished some Gingers this past weekend! I used Heather’s class for it and also found it super helpful – thank God for the big booty adjustment, lol. My fit on these pair vs. my first pair is so much better! I can’t wait to see your Gingers!
I’ve wanted to try jeans for a while and Gingers are the pattern I had chosen, I didn’t realise the was an online course for them and I’m super pleased to hear it, no excuses now!! Well except finding decent stretch denim and a button π
