DIY dressmaking + crafts with Emily

Monthly roundup #8

Ah September! It’s always been a month of change – the start of a new school year, the turn of the season and also that point at which I get a year older!

I went travelling for a couple of weeks this month which meant my sewing took a backseat but I had a great time showing off my makes abroad!

In the news…

Get ready for more holiday spam! Here are some outfit highlights from my trip to Egypt and Jordan.

I spent two weeks wandering through ancient temples, monuments and tombs. We had an incredible time! (We did this tour with G Adventures – I’m not sponsored by them, I just think they’re a great tour company! 🤣).

I had a birthday, turning the big three-oh! We celebrated with a hilarious scavenger hunt across London and far too much food!

I also had the best birthday cake made by my sister!

(I’m the chubby unicorn who’s eaten too much cake!!! 🤣🤣🤣)

What I’ve been reading/ watching/ listening to…

I managed to get a fair bit of reading done whilst on holiday and made it through the entire Crazy Rich Asians trilogy! Loved, loved, loved these books! And particularly as a person of Malaysian Chinese descent, I really resonated with a lot of the antics and comments of a lot of the characters.

I also saw the Crazy Rich Asians movie which was so funny! I’d definitely recommend it if you haven’t seen it yet!

TV-wise, there’s been quite a few shows that I’ve been getting into. (I can kind of see why I’ve not been so productive this month! LOL!). Follow This docu-series on Netflix has been a favourite as well as Unreal on Amazon Prime, though my favourite has to be The Circle on good ol’ terrestrial tv. The Circle was a new reality tv show based on a social media platform. The message from it? Lying helps you win the big bucks! Perhaps not the most family friendly show…

What’s everyone been up to in September?

  1. Your trip looks like it was brilliant Emily and you’re looking so stylish in all your hand-mades! I haven’t been to Egypt but I have a friend who goes there at least every couple of years much to the chagrin of her family who worry re her safety and won’t believe her when she tells them she feels perfectly safe there!
